Bioethanol fireplaces have a real, open flame and use highly flammable fuel. Read the instructions supplied with your fireplace and the fuel label before installation or use. This guide does not replace the model-specific manual.
Refilling safely
- Never add fuel while the burner is lit or hot.
- Allow the flame to go out and the burner to cool completely. The supplier’s general manual specifies at least 30 minutes; wait longer if anything remains hot and follow your model’s instructions.
- Use only the specified fuel and filling limit. Check for spills and remove spilled fuel before lighting.
- Close and move the fuel container away before ignition. Never smoke while handling fuel.
Positioning and ventilation
Use a stable, level, non-combustible support and maintain the clearances and room ventilation required by the manufacturer. Do not cover ventilation openings. A fireplace shown beneath a television in a photograph is not confirmation that this arrangement is safe for your installation.
During use
- Never leave the flame unattended or move a lit or hot fireplace.
- Keep children and pets at a safe distance and supervise them around the fireplace.
- Keep curtains, furniture, decorations and fuel away from heat and flame.
- Use the designated extinguishing tool as instructed. Do not pour water into the burner.
- Do not use damaged equipment or make unapproved modifications.
Fuel storage and emergencies
Keep fuel in its original, closed container, away from heat and ignition sources and out of reach of children and pets. Follow the storage instructions on the label. If a fire spreads or you cannot control it safely, leave the area and call 999.
